From a shortlist of five Kenworth Technicians across Australia,
Jason Cooper of Brown & Hurley Kenworth DAF Coffs Harbour
was named the 2023 Kenworth Technician of the Year.
Brad May – Chief Engineer PACCAR Australia and Steven Tomaro – Aftersales Manager PACCAR Australia, presented the 2023 Kenworth Technician of the Year award to Jason congratulating him on his win and performance on the day.
The search for the 2023 Kenworth Technician of the Year began in October 2022. All Service Technicians at Kenworth Dealerships Australia wide were invited to participate in the competition, which aimed to recognise and reward the best of the best. The event consisted of five practical assessments measuring technical skills, product knowledge, engine expertise and professionalism.
The finalists were:
1st Place: Jason Cooper – Brown & Hurley Kenworth DAF Coffs Harbour
2nd Place: Russel Twigden – Kenworth DAF Bordertown
3rd Place: Oliver Maher – Brown & Hurley Kenworth DAF Darra
4th Place: Ben Duffield – Brown & Hurley Kenworth DAF Toowoomba
5th Place: Joshua Will – Kenworth DAF Bordertown
Following Jason in first place, was Russell Twigden in second place of Kenworth DAF Bordertown, and Oliver Maher of Brown & Hurley Kenworth DAF Darra in third place.
The finals were held over a full day on Friday 24th March 2023 at Kenworth DAF Melbourne. There were five practical tests that were a combination of electrical, mechanical and system testing. The finalists received over $30,000 worth of prizes, including a voucher for a selection of tools vital to the job, and this year as per last has an additional incentive with the 1st placed Kenworth TOTY winner to join Team 18 as a Garage Crew member at this year’s Repco Bathurst 1000. Additionally, 2nd and 3rd placed Kenworth TOTY winners will be treated to a weekend Garage Crew experience with Team 18 at an upcoming Supercars event.
