Pride of Place – Coffs Harbour Hardwoods

Boasting a history that dates back through five generations of the McCarthy family, Coffs Harbour Hardwoods of Glenreagh (CHH) recently celebrated
51 years of continuous operation, working with government and industry and reinforced by formal agreements with Forests NSW.

“Forestry is a regenerative product,” said Garry McCarthy, general manager of CHH.

“What we do is very specialised and includes selective logging for power poles. With the proper controls in place we have been selectively logging the area west of Coffs Harbour for over half a century. If you selectively log correctly, in many instances the overall appearance of the forest doesn’t change, enabling the forest to regenerate with the regrowth coming through for the future to be sustainable.
