DRIVER COMFORT AND SAFETY

The physical well being of the driver is key to the interior design of the K200.

The wrap around instrument panel curves gently around the driver with all the controls within easy reach, featuring a “Smart Wheel” with fingertip controls for vital operating functions including engine brake and cruise control.

There is a wrap-around privacy curtain and handy storage for holding personal items, such as a mobile phone, wallet and keys.

The overhead console includes a storage locker and the provision for a dealer fitted GPS navigation or other information displays.

A large, deep, curved or two piece windscreen offers

excellent forward visibility. The door design promotes safety and confidence with excellent field of vision from the driving position on both sides and into the rear view mirrors.

Optional adjustable steering column and a range of seats further enhance comfort and safety.

Welcome to the inner world of the K200. A unique oasis, the cab interior features luxurious high quality “soft plush” finish vinyl in the traditional studded pattern, available in a range of contemporary trim colours.

A low engine tunnel results in a near flat cab floor and when the truck is stationary a six foot driver can easily stand upright and move around inside the Aerodyne cab.

The gear lever can be folded away giving more walk through access to the sleeper area. There is space under the bunk for two 30 litre fridges or storage drawers within easy reach of the driver.

CHASSIS FRAME LAYOUT

Kenworth trucks can be built to a variety of wheelbases with components mounted on to the frame to suit your needs. We maximise the strength of each frame by locating the various parts so that loads are evenly spread and fuel tank capacity can be maximised. Battery boxes are positioned to minimise the length of battery cables for ease of starting.

FUEL TANKS

At Kenworth we design our own fuel and oil tanks. Engineering tank packages for a variety of applications delivers flexibility to operators by offering multiple fuel and oil tank combinations. Aluminium tanks are standard for weight saving, or you can select steel tanks for severe applications. Just another example of Kenworth’s unmatched attention to design, function and quality.

TWIN STEER AXLES

Mining, logging and other heavyduty haulage operations often require high front axle load capability. No problem for the K200 Kenworth, which can also be optioned with twin steer axles.

The K200 is also available with the Eaton “Ultrashift plus” automated transmission. This two-pedal transmission can deliver significant improvements in performance, superior acceleration and low speed manoeuvrability with its revolutionary Electronic Clutch Actuation (ECA).


EXCELLENT ACCESS

ENGINEERED FOR EASY ACCESS

The K200 incorporates a wide and long top step which enhances cab access for the driver. Appropriate grab rails allow a three-point contact to be maintained at all times.

The cab steps feature durable non slip surfaces and LED illumination within the cab foot wells. The lights are integrated with the remote control locking system to automatically illuminate when the cab is unlocked.

DEFINING SAFETY

  • ABS ANTILOCK BRAKING SYSTEM
    Prevents wheel lock-up when the vehicle is over braked, often reducing stopping distances. Vehicles can retain directional stability and steerability, even under emergency braking on slippery road surfaces. ABS also reduces the danger of jackknifing in the case of vehicle combinations.
  • DTC DRAG TORQUE CONTROL
    Prevents the driven wheels from compression locking on a slippery surface by raising engine revs to assist with vehicle stability.
  • ATC AUTOMATIC TRACTION CONTROL
    Prevents wheel spin under acceleration as the drive torque exceeds the drive tyres to road surface adhesion. The ATC system communicates with the engine ECU to reduce engine power or will apply the brakes to the drive wheels depending on the low traction event.
  • ESP ELECTRONIC STABILITY PROGRAM
    Helps to restore vehicle stability through the use of ABS, ATC, steering direction and vehicle directional stability information. Steering angle, yaw, suspension pressure and brake application pressure sensors monitor the intended vehicle directional control versus actual vehicle movement. ESP intervenes by applying individual wheel brakes, or reduced engine torque when required to enhance vehicle stability. The system is compatible with multi trailer combinations.
  • TRM TRAILER RESPONSE MANAGEMENT
    Electronic trailer brake actuation (for EBS compatible trailers only) for improved trailer braking response to assist with reduced stopping distances.
  • ACB ACTIVE CRUISE WITH BRAKES
    Helps assist with accident avoidance, by using on board computers and radar to engage the engine and wheel braking systems if other vehicles on the road enter unsafe distances from the truck.
